HOW IT STARTED

OUR BACKGROUND

The story of how Delta Theta Mu came to form is a truly inspiring one. A few girls, by the name of Lara, Aya, Noor, and Sabrina (right to left) had met sometime in February of 2018. These girls, all from different countries, immediately formed a bond, and realized there are so many girls just like them who they have yet to meet. Based on principles of sisterhood and cultural diversity, these girls realized the need for cultural unity of the underrepresented regions of the world, known as the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. This was not something easy to establish. After doing the proper research, these girls did not find a sorority that seemed to match their unique goals and cultural interest. This led to the creation of Delta Theta Mu. These ladies strongly believe that a sorority, with these regional interests, should exist to promote diversity and acceptance of different cultures, regardless of race, religion, etc. With the history of these regions, these girls wanted to prove to the world that women from these cultures are able to unite together as one, and hence the catch phrase, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” was formed for Delta Theta Mu. Becoming a sorority is not an easy task, and these four girls still continue to work hard to obtain their national recognition. As they continue to work towards their goal, they hope to one day expand across Universities in America, to unite all the young women of these regions together to form a forever lasting sisterhood.
