A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Here is a little background on why I wanted to start this sorority.
When I came to UTSA, I had close to no friends. I never felt like I could fit in anywhere. It was very tough for me as a freshman to not have anyone supporting me or motivating me throughout my first year of college. I ended up feeling very alone. As I began my second year, I made a promise to myself to fix this, and that is when I met Noor, Sabrina, and Lara. Each and every single one of them made me feel like I have a second family here at UTSA. They have been there for me when times were rough, they have been there to push me, and have just been the greatest group of people that I have met. These girls became the sisters that I’ve always wished for, but unfortunately never had. What I felt after meeting them, is what I want every single girl to feel. I never want anyone to feel the way I did my first year at UTSA. Many of the girls that will be joining this sorority will not have their families here with them, most probably similar to you. I want to use this sorority to make these girls feel like we are their second family, and that when they need a shoulder to cry on, we will be here for them. Not only that, but I want to create an environment where these girls will feel like they can fit in, hence the reason this is a cultural based sorority. By creating this sorority, and uniting all the cultures of these regions, regardless of religion, color, or look, we are showing everyone and ourselves, that not only are we smart, driven, beautiful, hard-working, courageous, kind women, we are also ONE. We are able to set aside differences and become united, by learning about each other’s cultures, religions, ethics, and more. This is what the goal of this sorority is, and what I truly believe. I will dedicate so much time and energy into this beautiful thing because I want to be able to create sisterhood bonds and create a long lasting family for all the young women here at UTSA.
